What's the Fate of Pi Chai Yuan :: Qingdao's Old Downtown Food Street |
|

I walked down this old narrow boarded street the other day to find out that it was a legend. The old Restaurant district of Zhong Shan Lu, Qingdao’s old downtown. I could imagine all the little restaurants with tables and hundreds of people enjoying local dishes. The area was famous for their Huan Duan Soup and seafood.
Pi Chai Yuan is located off of Beijing road, on Jiang Nin Road. It is a must see for anyone that has an imagination. When I went down the road I still felt the feeling that people were there. There was music drifting in the air from someone and it hauntingly felt like people were still eating there, drinking Erguotuo and enjoying life.
Some say that it is condemned and will be demolished. I hope we see it restored and a restaurant from every province frequents the street. Jiang Nin Lu was the restaurant district of its time. Areas such as Ming Jiang Lu and Tai Dong have taken over. A Must see.
