Weta Trimaran Sailing QingdaoSailing in Qingdao, June 2009
by Jeppe Mortensen

WETA Trimaran Sailing
Another two WETA trimarans have joined our regular sailing activities inside the Olympic Sailing Center (OSC).  Our fleet now includes 5 boats. We sail on weekends, and whenever time and weather allows.

We're sailing from the ramp closest to the main entrance of the OSC, so this is the place where you will be able to meet current WETA owners and their sailing mates, make friends, and maybe be lucky to get out on a boat.

Sharing a WETA:
At present there are no WETA trimarans available exclusively for rent, but arrangements can be made to accommodate the occasional rental.  Apart from buying your own boat, a cost effective alternative would be to share a WETA with one or more individuals.

Some people have expressed an interest in sharing a boat, and I would be happy to put you in contact with them.

Adventure Duck Anyone?
Ever wished the Olympic Sailing Center had ducks? Now at least there is one - the Adventure Duck.

The Qingdao Adventure DuckThe Adventure Duck has been in test operation for a while, but starting from June it should be in regular service inside the Olympic Sailing Center from 7am in the morning to around 6pm.

The Duck departs from gate #1 (the gate facing May 4 Square), and tickets are RMB 120 per person.  When accompanied by a paying adult, there is no charge for children under 1.1 meter in height.

A trip lasts 45 minutes.  The on-land sightseeing tour inside the Olympic Sailing Center takes approximately. 15 minutes, while the remaining 30 minutes is spent on the water.

Trip starts with the Duck sliding down a ramp, and from inside the marina you'll then "sail" outside to the area around May 4 Square and Music Square, then return to the Olympic Sailing Center.

The Duck bus originates from Australia, so vessel safety has been taken care of. Floating vests are provided for the ride. For more photos and information, visit www.52duck.com or call +86 (532) 8097-2888.
