2007 Qingdao International Regatta Results
The 2007 Qingdao International Regatta was held at the Qingdao International Marina Olympic Sailing Center from August 9th - 24th, 2007; with racing on Fushan Bay from August 15th - 23rd and the closing ceremony on August 24th.  Racing in the eleven Olympic events took place with courses and competition as similar as possible to those to be used in the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition.  The ten race opening series scheduled for each event (15 for the 49er), was followed by the decisive Medal Race for the top ten competitors.

The members of the 2007 US Sailing Team are listed below in ranking order one through three.  This list includes the athlete's name, hometown and yacht club.  The number one-ranked members of the USST were invited to compete in the 2007 Qingdao International Regatta:Qingdao International Regatta

Joining the team in China were: Olympic Sailing Committee Chairman and Team Leader Dean Brenner; High Performance Director and Head Coach Gary Bodie; Coaches Luther Carpenter, Jay Glaser, Skip Whyte, Jay Glaser, Mark Reynolds, Kenneth Andreasen, Aaron McIntosh, Anthony Kotoun, Steve Erickson and James Lyne; Boatwright Donovan Brennan;  Medical Staff Shawn Hunt and Mark Kenna; Nutritionist Lisa Dorfman; Weather Forecaster Jennifer Lilly; and U.S.-China Liaison Dr. David Pan.

The US Sailing Team has circled the globe this summer, winning medals and achieving top finishes at dozens of regattas. One of the highlights was the 2007 ISAF Sailing World Championships, where USST members brought home a silver medal and six top-ten finishes. In addition, top performances by the team qualified the United States for spots at the 2008 Olympic Games in the following 10 classes: Finn, 470 Men and Women, 49er, Laser, Laser Radial, RS:X Men, Star, Tornado and Yngling.

Olympic Village Construction & Qingdao International Marina  Photo Gallery
Qingdao's Olympic Village, which lies within the Olympic Sailing Center and is adjacent to the sailing venue, is a core component of the Olympic Sailing Base project.  Construction of this project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2007.

Covering 100,000 square meters of land the Village is divided into domestic and foreign sections. 436 apartment rooms are being decorated. The village is scheduled to open to 600 athletes and officials from over 60 countries on August 7th, 2008. These facilities will also be utilized by the athletes of the Special Olympics during August 30 th to September 20th, 2008.
