SKUD-18The Qingdao International Marina & Olympic Sailing Center will host the 2008 IFDS Qingdao International Regatta from May 8th - 16th, 2008. 

Tickets for general admission are 10 CNY and can be purchased at the entrance to the Qingdao International Marina & Olympic Sailing Center (between ZengCheng & Aomen Lu).  You can also reserve them by calling 11185.  Tickets can be delivered for a nominal fee of 1 CNY.

The racing of the 2008 IFDS Qingdao International Regatta will begin at 10:30 a.m. on May 11th and finish on May 15th.  Daily events are from 10:30am to 4:30pm.  The closing ceremony will be held on the evening of May 15th at the Olympic Village.  Sixteen countries, 34 boats, & 67 athletes will take part in this year’s Qingdao IFDS event; China will have 4 boats and 7 athletes participating in these special preliminary games.

The 2008 IFDS Qingdao International Regatta will feature racing in all three Paralympic events, with nine races scheduled in each event [ 2.4 meter keelboat (One-person), SKUD18 keelboat (Two-person), Sonar  keelboat (Three-person) ],  providing the perfect opportunity for sailors, coaches, media, organizers, and spectators to test the venue, facilities, and conditions ahead of the 2008 Paralympic Sailing Competition to be held at the same venue this September 6th -17th, 2008.

The three classes selected for the 2008 Paralympic Games in Qingdao, China are: 2.4 Metre (Open Singlehanded), SKUD-18 (Open Doublehanded) and Sonar (Open Triplehanded). 

US SAILING has announced the members of the 2007 US Disabled Sailing Team (USDST).  Created in 1998 to develop and prepare the team representing the U.S. at the Paralympic Games, the US Disabled Sailing Team annually recognizes the top three sailors in the classes selected for the Paralympic Games, based on athletes’ performances at a series of qualifying regattas.  The members of the 2007 US Disabled Sailing Team are:
