The 2006 Qingdao International Sailing Regatta  ::  Aug. 18th - 31st
The 2006 Qingdao International Sailing Regatta :: Aug. 18th - 31st"500 sailors from 45 nations are expected in China this August for the Qingdao International Regatta, the first of two Test Events scheduled for the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition. The Event Organizing Committee are inviting media from around the world to come and witness the sailors take their first opportunity to test the waters on which the Olympic medals will be won and lost."

The 2006 Qingdao International Sailing Regatta (Aug. 18th - 31st), organized by the Chinese Yachting Association together with the Qingdao Municipal Government, will feature all eleven of the Olympic events and follow the new Olympic Format, with the Final Medal Race.  Two boats per nation will be allowed to compete, with entry quotas for all eleven events. It is estimated that about 350 boats and 500 athletes from 45 nations and 150 team officials will participate in the regatta.

Media Facilities
A media productions area will be provided in this venue. Wireless internet service will be available along with an information desk and media boat. These facilities will ensure that accredited media can fully cover the regatta. A specific media zone will enable access to the athletes.

The Organizing Committee will provide free accommodation in the media hotel for the accredited journalists and provide free shuttle buses between the venue and the media hotel during the games. The Organizing Committee will also arrange transport to and from the venue during August 15th-17th (media check-in and September 1st (media check-out).

Accreditation Applications
Media Accreditation information has already been sent to key sailing media; however, there are still media slots available. Media wishing to apply for accreditation should read the Media Invitation Letter and Registration Form and send their application to the Organizing Committee by Friday July 28th.
