 The Qingdao Expat Group is a loose group of expats that continually changes with the tide of expats relocating to the sailing city. The Qingdao Expat Charity Committee is made up of local expats from around the globe. The Qingdao Expat Charity mission statement is "assist in structural and educational assistance to local Qingdao and rural Qingdao (Laixi, Pingdu, Jimo) students and schools." The Qingdao Expat Charity has also assisted in the medical care of local children who are in need of surgery from life threatening diseases such as cancer and heart conditions.
The legal definition of "charitable organization" varies around the globe, but generally can be defined as a voluntary organization set up for charitable or philanthropic purposes and must not be organized or operated for the benefit of private interests. They should be registered locally and be able to provide proof of NPO status.
If you are interested in donating to any charitable event run by any organization in Qingdao, we would suggest that you ask the host organization how much of your contribution is actually going to the "Charitable Act" and require proof of non-profit organization (NPO) status as well as an official tax deductable receipt.
