17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Print
CPCThe 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, opened Monday, Oct. 15th with the world watching it's outcome.

The mayor of Qingdao, Xia Geng, pointed out the importance of social reform.  He alludes to a reformation of Party guidelines.  How will this effect Qingdao and the world?  Qingdao has made great progress within the last few years.  Proposed reforms in regulation and inspection of pharmaceutical and agricultural exports have fostered an ongoing trust in quality of these key exports.

China's continued scientific development will help resolve ecological issues that effect all of us. The CPC will also discuss the future demands of fossilized fuels within the PRC.  China, with the cooperation of the U.S. and the E.U., can play an important roll in slowing down the current "global Warming" trend.

Moreover, the new goal must be achieved "through optimizing the economic structure and improving economic returns while reducing consumption of resources and protecting the environment," Hu said in his report.

The CPC also recognizes the importance of the "one world" concept with great emphasis on "socialism".

"Here we would like to make a solemn appeal: On the basis of the one-China principle, let us discuss a formal end to the state of hostility between the two sides (P.R.C. & Taiwan), reach a peace agreement, construct a framework for peaceful development of cross-Straits relations, and thus usher in a new phase of peaceful development," Hu said in a report to the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

"At present, the forces for 'Taiwan independence' are stepping up their secessionist activities, seriously jeopardizing the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations," Hu told more than 2,000 delegates to the congress that opened Monday morning.

The mainland side is ready to conduct exchanges, dialogue, consultations and negotiations with any political party in Taiwan on any issue as long as it recognizes that both sides of the Straits belong to one and the same China, Hu said.
