Qingdao International Yacht Club (QIYC)In 2007, the Qingdao International Yacht Club (QIYC) will participate in its very first America’s Cup.  The QIYC is located in FuShan Bay and led by Commodore Dong Tong Kuan who will organize a series of match races and sailing events between now and 2008 to prepare not only for the 32nd America’s Cup, but also the Olympic Games.

Through these two, separate and international yachting events, Qingdao will be introducing 1.3 billion people to the world of sailing and water sports. This year, the Qingdao Yacht Club will be making quite an entrance onto the world-stage of internationally-celebrated yacht squadrons.  Qingdao is a modern and progressive city that is taking the first Chinese America’s Cup challenge to the world.

The "Gas Tax" is Back:
Starting on November 5th, 2007 an additional 1 RMB will be charged on all taxi fares.  This is due to the ever rising gas prices that China and the rest of the world are facing.

The Qingdao Municipal Museum is Closed until July 2008:
The City's Municipal Museum is undergoing "Olympic renovation" and will not open until next year.
