Qingdao Economic Growth and Business Development
Qingdao is the wealthiest city in Shandong province, which has the second-highest GDP of China's provinces. Despite its comfortable position on the Yellow Sea along the outer edge of the Shandong Peninsula, Qingdao is lumped together with its neighbors on the other side of the peninsula as part of the Bohai Sea Rim Economic Zone, North China's answer to the Pearl River Delta (PRD) and the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) regions.

The "Gas Tax" is Back:
Starting on November 5th, 2007 an additional 1 RMB will be charged on all taxi fares. This is due to the ever rising gas prices that China and the rest of the world are facing.

The Qingdao Municipal Museum is Closed until July 2008:
The City's Municipal Museum is undergoing "Olympic renovation" and will not open until next year.
