The city, including its municipalities, contain 224 rivers. Most of Qingdao's rivers have origins in the surrounding mountain ranges. Among these 224 rivers, 33 have basins above 100 km²and 5 (Da Gu, South Jiaolai, North Jiaolai, Xiao Gu, and the Ze River) have basins in excess of 500 km².

Starting on November 5th, 2007 an additional 1 RMB will be charged on all taxi fares. This is due to the ever rising gas prices that China and the rest of the world are facing.
