Anti-Japanese Protests in Qingdao


The recent purchase of a disputed island chain by the Japanese Government has sparked protests throughout China, including Qingdao, a once sleepy fishing village which is now China’s Sailing City. Qingdao City Anti-Japanese demonstrators gathered at Jusco (a Japanese owned shopping mall) on Hong Kong Road and marched west to the Qingdao City Government building, then on to May Fourth Square (WuSi GuangChang) before heading back east on DongHai Road to Jusco – chanting Pro-Chinese, Anti-Japanese, and Anti-American rhetoric.
